COUNSELING Be All that You Can BeIn Gods Army! Do you know what God is up to in your life? Are you available and ready to respond to His call? Women's Community Bible Study -
In the sixth of an eight-article series on knowing Gods will, teacher and Bible commentator Nancy McGuirk offers women a forthright challenge to respond to Gods call to leadership. Sharing her testimony of when God first called her to teach other women, she challenges readers to discern prayerfully, where God has placed each of them in His overall plan. Finally, she encourages women to step forward enthusiastically as they make themselves available for Gods service. Ann Graham Lotz, popular Bible teacher and daughter of Ruth and Billy Graham, refers to the four ways of discerning Gods direction in our livesthe Bible, prayer, people and circumstancesas the runway lights for landing the plane of Gods will. All of these four elements are important tools for determining Gods will for our lives, but we cannot employ any one of them apart from the other three. God is always at work all around us. It is up to us to listen to His voice, to be available when He calls and to be willing to respond to Him obediently. Many years ago, after I had attended several Bible courses, the Christian Education Director of our church asked me to teach a group of 14 women for one year. My assignment was to take them through the Bible. After praying about his request, discussing it with my husband and writing the Billy Graham Association for advice, I came to believe that God was calling me to teach, and that He had opened this door of opportunity for me to serve Him. I knew that the time had arrived for me to respond to God. I also believe that when God began raising up various women in our city of Atlanta, to make them His disciples and to transform their lives, He graciously invited me to join Him in His plan, as their teacher. Likewise, when God brought four precious children into this world to teach them about Himself, He again allowed me the unspeakable privilege of joining with Him in that undertaking, as their mother. Often, when God invites us to join Him, we experience a crisis of belief. Do we really believe that the God who called us to a particular task will enable us to accomplish it? Today, I would challenge you with three very important questions: Where has God placed you now? What is He up to in your life? Are you available and ready to join Him in His plan?
